According to a report on June 11th, Unilever Sri Lanka recently launched a new 2.33 MW solar power project at its Horana factory, with a total investment of 1.3 million euros.
Unilever Sri Lanka stated that this investment will meet the energy needs of its Horana factory by 30% -35%, reducing carbon emissions by 2090 metric tons annually, equivalent to planting over 48000 trees. The company expects to increase its total solar power generation to 4 megawatts this year, with a goal of achieving carbon neutrality for 70% of renewable energy by 2050.
Unilever Sri Lanka is a manufacturer and distributor of fast-moving consumer goods, with 30 brands including food, beverages, cleaning agents, and personal care products.
