Prime Minister Hasina of Bangladesh stated that irrigation pumps will be fully supported by solar energy

The Daily Sun reported that Prime Minister Hasina of Bangladesh stated during the unveiling of the tree planting campaign for the Bangladesh Christian Alliance that the government hopes to transform the Bangladesh irrigation system into fully solar powered operation. She said, "I want the irrigation system to rely entirely on solar energy. Initially, this may require some investment, but in the long run, it will reduce costs." She also stated that solar panels are under development and can be installed in nearby villages for irrigation. She called on the people to plant a large number of trees and build a "green Bangladesh".
