The Qinghai Delingha Integrated Solar Energy Storage 2 million kW Project is located in the Photovoltaic Industrial Park of Delingha City, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province. The planned area is about 53000 acres, and the total installed capacity of the project is 2 million kW, with 1.6 million kW of photovoltaic and 400000 kW of solar thermal energy storage. After production, the annual on grid electricity can reach 3.65 billion kWh. Among them, the first phase of the tower solar thermal 200000 kW project is led by the Northwest Institute of China Electric Power Construction as the EPC general contractor, and is the world's largest tower solar thermal power generation project under construction with a single unit capacity.
The entire project adopts a renewable energy generation technology that combines photovoltaic power generation and solar thermal energy storage. Through solar thermal energy storage generator sets and electric heating devices, photovoltaic waste electricity is effectively absorbed. Combined with the output characteristics of photovoltaic and solar thermal energy, an integrated multi energy complementary power generation project is formed. After completion and operation, the annual grid connected electricity can reach 3.65 billion kWh, which will realize the technological innovation and demonstration application of photovoltaic, solar thermal, and energy storage collaborative power generation technology.
After the completion of the first phase of the tower solar thermal 200000 kW project, it will become the first new energy demonstration project in the Haixi region to use thermal storage solar thermal power stations as peak shaving power sources, helping to build the national clean energy industry highland in Qinghai Province and contributing to the achievement of the national "dual carbon" goal.
Compared with photovoltaic power generation projects, solar thermal power generation projects can absorb sunlight and convert it into heat energy, which can then be converted into electrical energy through generator sets. They have dual functions of peak shaving power supply and energy storage, and can achieve continuous and stable output, realizing 24-hour uninterrupted power supply.
Qinghai Province has abundant solar energy resources and unique advantages in developing solar thermal energy. China Power Construction Corporation has invested in the construction and operation of its Qinghai Gonghe 50 MW solar thermal power generation project in the province, which not only provides reliable clean power supply for the local area, but also contributes to the local economic development.
