According to Gulf Daily on April 6th, Bahrain is developing a comprehensive plan to use solar billboards to ensure an effective transition from traditional energy to renewable energy.
According to reports, Saleh Tarradah, Chairman of the Bahrain Capital Trust, is leading the installation of solar billboards throughout Bahrain, instead of three-phase traditional electricity billboards currently powered by the State Grid. He proposed that from January 1, 2025, advertising companies can only order or install solar billboards on highways, roads, or streets.
He said that several large electronic billboards operate 24/7, consuming a lot of electricity. Once a solar street light system is used to power external billboards, it will save businesses thousands of dinars per month because solar energy is renewable.
He said: Currently, it is proposed to only cover new billboards from January, and then announce a deadline for transitioning to existing billboard screens.
Bahrain is implementing its national energy transition plan, which aims to increase the proportion of renewable energy in the country's total electricity generation to 5% by 2025 and 20% by 2035.
