South Africa officially launches hybrid solar power plants

According to a report on the South African Business Technology website on April 19th, Norwegian renewable energy company Scatec officially launched its 540 MW hybrid solar and battery facility located in the North Cape province on April 18th. This project consists of three sub projects, with a solar photovoltaic installed capacity of 540 megawatts, a battery installed capacity of 225 megawatts, and an energy storage capacity of 1.14 gigawatts. The project covers an area of 879 hectares (over 1500 football fields) and consists of 1 million solar panels and 456 units, each of which is the size of a container, making it one of the largest hybrid solar and battery facilities in the world.
