JSW India received a contract from SECI, an Indian solar energy company, on Monday to develop a 500 MW cross state transmission system connected solar power project and a 250 MW/500 MWh energy storage system.

The company participated in the SECI led tariff based photovoltaic competitive bidding this month, aiming to establish a 1200MW solar project and a 600MW energy storage system, and was awarded the bid notification as a result.

A statement stated that after the project award, JSW's power generation will increase to 16GW and energy storage capacity will increase to 4.2 GWh. Among them, the under construction capacity of wind power, thermal power, and hydropower is 2.3GW.

The total installed capacity of renewable energy is 6.2 gigawatts. The company expects to increase its installed power generation capacity from the current 7.5GW to 10GW by the end of this fiscal year.
