According to a report on August 5th, the Alternative Energy Development Department of Thailand stated that the government will guide 800 state-owned institutions nationwide to save at least 20% of energy. The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) will provide energy service solutions through their subsidiary ESCO companies. ESCO will invest in installing energy-saving equipment, including rooftop solar panels. The government will also incentivize residents to install rooftop solar panels through tax cuts and other incentives, and it is expected that about 90000 households will join the project from 2024 to 2025. The total budget of this project is 20.2 billion Thai baht, which will save 590 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
