UK plans to build 840MW solar power plant

The photovoltaic development partners have submitted all plans to build an 840MW solar power plant in Oxfordshire, UK to the Planning Inspectorate for review.

After completion, the Botley West project will become the largest solar power plant in the UK, generating enough electricity to power 330000 households.

In 2019, Oxfordshire Council declared a climate emergency. The county's power grid is also one of the most carbon intensive power grids in the UK.

According to a survey by Public Priority, 66% of Oxfordshire residents support building solar power plants within 3 miles of their residence.

The same study also found that 82% of Britons support the construction of more green energy, and renewable energy is more popular than all other types of infrastructure.

Botley West represents a significant £ 800 million investment that will create job opportunities and help drive the development of local businesses.

The Planning Inspection Bureau will appoint a review body and review the proposal in accordance with the procedures outlined in the 2008 Planning Law.
